Kenyan Safari –A Tetreat Into The Lap Of Nature, A Quest For The Eternal Bliss!

Travel should be a regular indispensable part of human life .It had been long since I was dreaming of “A safari through the African Forests”. But when actually got an opportunity to explore the Kenyan forests got a bit confused, since this time it was with a group of 51 passengers from different countries. On one side was the experience in selling the destination for years, escorting groups of various profiles & sizes to international destinations, on the other side was the images that flashed through my eyes of dense forests, wild animals and people of Africa.

Day 1 September 10, 2015

Anyway my insecurity did not last long since the moment we landed Nairobi International airport the cool climate greeted us well. It was windy and a bit chilling. What was more striking was the hospitable nature of the Kenyan people experienced throughout the tour. Soon the whole group was split into various game drive vans and we headed to our first destination Lake Naivasha to the north west of Nairobi. We reached Lake Naivasha Country club inside the forest reserve where animals like zebras, deers etc welcomed us at green lawn next to the resort lobby.

Then we moved for a boating at Lake Naivasha which still feels as a dream for us. The nature seemed as a perfect canvas painting with lights & hues all in the perfect combination.

Day 2 September 11, 2015

The second day morning was a drive to Masai Mara .The bumpy roads & unpaved paths took us back to the past. It was like getting into the time machine and travelling back 70-100 years. Here the nature was untouched by modernization and at its peak of purity. The animals were living in their own space chalking out their own rules & regulations. Each and every animal was enjoying its life in their own comfort zone without entering others.

Day 3 September 12, 2015

Next day morning we went for a game drive through the Mara Forests. The Big 5( African lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, African leopard, and rhinoceros ) and other wild animals were in their usual fun n frolic. .

Then was the visit to Mara village. First they introduced us to the head of the community .They entertained us with their traditional dances, exhibiting the primitive method of lighting fires with two sticks etc. Then a few youngsters said they would take us to their HOMES.

The moment we entered the houses multiple images flashed in front of eyes. Their entire home was not bigger than a small bedroom of our usual homes. We, the so called people from the modern and advanced world were belittled while self-introspection thinking about our unquenched thirst for more of literally everything money, comfort, amenities etc etc.

Here they were happy without electricity, pipes for water and all that we could think of while dreaming of a perfect home. But even in their small homes they had space for each member of the family and their domestic animals. The bed that they sleep was made of mud   and the blankets made of animal skin. The children went to schools by walking the distance ;which were usually 4-6 kms away. Here I would like to add that it is not the fluency in English of the people that would surprise a person visiting Kenya but the updates on each and every incident happening around the globe .They have in depth knowledge on the Global current affairs.

Day 4 September 13, 2015

On the way to the airport rewinding the last three memorable days I realized that a tour can be beyond seeing a new destination, enjoying the landscape and meeting new people. This travel was an opportunity for self-introspection about learning a lot more about life and people. In the present day modern world, where people were unhappy with  lower pixels of the cameras in their mobiles, weaker Wi-Fi’s ,smaller displays of their tablets and  I phones  it was clear that it is not only the materialistic happiness that matters. Being content with the present, loving nature n animals and caring fellow human beings can also mean ETERNAL BLISS to humans in some part of the world.

It was evident from the group feedback that the destination, the innocent people of Kenya & the opportunity to explore nature in its purest forms made it a perfect tour.
