Playing It Right Navigating The Corporate World: Opportunities, Challenges, And The Path To Growth

It Is with great shock that we come across how hard an employee’s life is affected by the Work culture or the path to proving oneself worthy .The subject matter in reference is to be investigated, evaluated and flaws if any has o be rectified which the coming days more clarity id expected. But having been almost two decades in the work world within India and outside it is important to give all workforce joining and who get graduated from the colleges and UG schools an orientation class on what the world has in store for them .The below might give a better start for their enrichment process though each industry will have industry specific points to add.

1 - What Drives You

This is perhaps the most important question or perhaps the opening question that each and every one should ask oneself understanding what would keep them driving forward or going to office when there are tough times at office, or years down the lane when a moment comes when salary appraisals, promotions stop giving you the usual kick or motivational claps from team.

Everyone does have driven there. I do agree that everyone might not have the privilege to pursue the passionate and, in that case, to understand to purse job space as means of livelihood which too is normal. It is ok to be not the topper or best performer our role is give in our best and keep learning new things, every one has a day that deserves a standing ovation but many just lose hope before the last strike and say nothing is working out but rather the successful are the ones that covered the plateau of lost efforts.

2 - Clarifying expectations

This is the most key important factor that every candidate should ask at interview whichever level you are hired for the exact key [performance indicators and every week/month review with the line managers or investors how close are we too the the expected and infer the ways that the company think that referred employee could contribute to the company ,many a times it happens that the new roles and job roles that the company provides to the employee is.

3 - Using your stress busters

Everyone will have that typical stress busters when you feel that things are not in your control and at times it gets to know if it is the tie to let hold of it ,spend some time that you love the most it might be as inexpensive and easily accessible as having a great meal cooked by your spouse ,playing a game with child ,watching a sunset at a close by paddy field or the might sun getting drenched in a sea.

The list might go on what we always forget that true moments of bliss are not driving your favorite super car you wanted t buy or stay at a luxurious hotel but just a few minutes’ drive or at your home itself. And after a blissful moment and the recharge review again you would be able to take the right decision. The idea that bliss is found in the everyday, not in extravagant luxuries, is a valuable reminder in a fast-paced world.

4 - Work Load VS Burnout

As this is self-explanatory not elaborating further as here it is to improvise and learn the art of saying no when we need to . Rest leave it for freedom of mature inference as anything explained deep could be misinterpreted .

5 - A job role is an opportunity

This is what I always believe and say to myself throughout the tough times and narrated to me by one of my mentors in my early days at GCC doing my initial days in my career .It went on something almost similar words like this

See XXXX if the visas got approved in time ,flights were departing and landing on time, the cabs were at airport and the guests do identify it easily at the hotel reception desks , the guests had a smooth check in ,the tours were running on time probably the company might never need all of us So this is why we are here and we have job and means of livelihood so perceive every challenge for your customer as an opportunity and the existence of your job role

Here we all should remember that any working force across the globe gets almost 4 decades that is 10200 days that translates to approximately 71400 hours to be used to an industry .so weather we chose to leave a signature of ours in the industry for the generations to come and stay mentoring & productive till we are healthy or just seeing it as a livelihood and then going to chose retired life after 60 is a matter of choice .

6 - A strong Employee Experience officer

As the role of HR is ever evolving as per the new expectations of business strategy ,exposure to global competition for talent sourcing, giving in the right platform for growth is very important and this starts at the level of recruitment itself. Periodical assessment and feedbacks would ensure that both the employee and the management are on the same page.

7 - Detaching the EGO.

This is very important as these days every employee feels that we are something unique and Blessed hence having the particular job role at times. Here we always advise this inference with thinking that this job role was here before we joined and there might be people in future who might execute this better. Often this helps us to detach from such responsibilities when we fill physically and emotionally drained and take breaks when required the tasks will be completed deadlines will be met, the clients will be at the end happy as we should always understand a company is a virtual entity where the systems drive it forward.

8 - Understanding the Employer's Perspective.

This is where I feel most of the disappointment ,stress, or employee unhappiness happens ,but it is always mature to infer it from the employer point of view ,we would have n number of passions ,work styles ,or career goals but unless we align it to the corporate goal of whey we were recruited /or be able to convince that your suggestions would have a long term betterment of the corporate culture, profitability or the way we perceive customer satisfaction on a long term basis ,there is no point in getting disappointed as I have found that ideas are never scarce it is the mode of execution, scalability and consistency that matters which idea stays ,thought about or executed .

So the best is keep sharing ideas, refine it based on the feedbacks polish it a day or moment will come when each will have its value and the destination of execution. Always remember the best ideas ,products, technology or the time saving gadgets that were developed were not by someone who focused on work life balance so it is up to us if we want to be a user or developer .

To conclude the workplace offers us financial stability, the life style we enjoy, and the freedom to have thoughts for our future since our todays and tomorrow are taken care of, ideally a role that may be an unemployed youth of the country is dreaming about.

Choose wise, stay healthy, have a good quality circle to share your thoughts ,find the right mentors and keep growing . The corporate world is full of opportunities but also challenges which are the key to growth .It’s important to maintain self-awareness, manage stress, and stay open to learning and evolving and be self monitored and driven. The rest zeal and vigor that you see around are at times momentary and temporary.
